Golden Tentacle 2014

First annual tournament feating trohpies made of Lewdgrip’s cutoff throwing arm … er Tentacle.
The first annual Golden Tentacle tournament in Everett, Washington USA finished with a brutal and successful showing by Beorg’s Norse team. Before we go into that, let’s get some others details.

panoramic-small Format: The tournament featured a 16 coach cap, with 1.1M build and 150K in skills (stacking up to 40k per player). Lewdgrip Whiparm was available for any team.

Rules: The rules incentivized brutality and scoring by adding bonus points for TD’s, Casualties, and other categories to your overall score (not just tie breakers). This rewarded coaches who ran up the score, punished their opponent, or just about any other excessive action in the spirit of Blood Bowl.

Most Creative Build: Keggie McKill’s Underworld build that featured only 1 gobblin!!. Taking full advantage of the rullset that allowed Lewdgrip not to take away from the 2 star cap, Keggie rostered Lewdgrip, Skitter Stab-Stab, and Glart Smashgrip Jr, along with an Underworld Troll and a primarily skaven build for underworld. Fun to watch.

Coaches: The 16 coaches that participated came from some of the best gaming clubs in the Pacific Northwest. Four players from Star Players of Eastern Washington (SPEW) made the 6 hour drive to Everett and were lead by “Iron” Mike Green’s (Dwarves) 7th Place Finish. Six players arrived from the Thunderbowl gaming club in Canada, with players taking four of the top five spots in the tournament. The host’s from the Everett Blood Bowl League (EBBL) contributed five players to the tournament, with Rookie Tim Miller (High Elves) taking 5th in his first outing. Seattle’s Rat City Rumble (RCR) had 1 participant, but that was the only one they needed.

Finish: RCR’s David Burroughs finished at tournament champion with his Norse going 2 wins and 1 tie. Though Thunderbowl’s Craig McAree finished as the tournament’s only 3-0 coach, Burroughs tournament leading 19 casualties and 9 touchdowns (in 3 games!) provided enough extra points for him to close the point gap for the win.
