NAF Committee Meeting of 7 February, 2021

Attending: President Nate, VP James, TD Andrea, Treasurer Paul, MD Massimo

• TD Election

Congratulations to Andrea on his election to the position of Tournament Director and warm welcome to the committee.

 

• Database

Blood Bowl 2020 has been enacted in the database. Still to confirm whether it is calculating as intended. In discussions with IT team.

 

• Tournament Director First thoughts

Query from some in the community about whether Bretonnians and Imperials should be separate teams. Consensus among the committee that at this stage the teams are too similar to be considered separate teams. Bretonnians to continue as is in BB2016 however Imperials are the BB2020 version of the team moving forward.

Of the nations eligible for NAF National tournament status only France have been in discussions. However, majority of Nations have not had tournaments in the last 6 months.

Requests from some potential applicants for NAF World Cup to push the future tournament date from 2023 to 2024. Problems such as difficulty booking venues, securing finance etc. In this the committee leant on TD for his expertise. Advised that successful World Cup would need 18 months to prepare. Committee has taken this on board and current recommendation is to maintain 2023 tournament date, but push the selection period to around Christmas 2021. Unless things change dramatically over the next few months, that is the current timeframe being worked on. Already multiple expressions of interest which the committee is encouraged by.

TD has been canvassing the NC’s and RC’s to gauge how best to assist them. Wanting to formalize the structure a little more. Also looking to formalize roles for online coordinators of BB2 and FUMBBL. Looking for interested non-English-speaking approvers to join the team.

 

• Gift/Tokens

Currently at the mercy of Chinese New Year

Massimo looking for another primary shipper for Northern Europe to reduce his workload

January Shipping is complete, save for those that have selected gifts that are currently with other shippers.

 

• Tournament Series

Do we produce a badge without a year on it to get value out of the run. Only 1 tournament series running in the US at this stage.

Traditionally there have been 20 worldwide, with 6 of those based in the US.

At this stage the committee has determined that the Tournament Series can probably be shelved for 2021. Do we still have a series coordinator?

 

• 24/26 Final Badges

Committee has committed to the extension of this program till the end of 2022. As per previous discussions this will involve a final order for badges for coaches who have met the criteria at the end of 2022.

 

• NAFC

Confirmed as cancelled this year. Information is to be released shortly.

 

• Variant Rulesets

With the move to 2020 ruleset, we will need to look at a plan to update all of our variant ruleset material to this new ruleset.

Look for expressions of interest from past contributors.

 

• Rule Clarifications

Query from members of the community about the NAF providing clarifications on rules. Noted that GW is doing so themselves, in some respects adding confusion rather than clarifying. Difficult to determine how far the committee goes down this route. What is fact, what is best practice etc. At this stage we are in a hold pattern, trying to determine the nature of the GW FAQs moving forward and how successful they prove to the community.

 

• Accounts

Paul confirms NAF accounts will be released shortly.
