NAF Committee Meeting April 22, 2018

Committee Meeting April 22, 2018

Attending: President Gaixo/Nate, Vice President Tojurub/Torsten, Tournament Director Purplegoo/Phil, Treasurer Geggster/Paul, Membership Director Rolex/Massimo
Apologies: League Director Valen

Meeting started at 21:00 CET

1. Club Status
Data protection issues were brought up by Nate, specifically the access to the different portions of the website. There needs to be a review of the roles and assignees of each role in the website structure.

We are still in need of a webmaster, as our top pick is too busy with other matters to take on the role. We will take some time to identify other candidates.

2 League Director
Skipped due to absence of Gavin

3 Membership Director
Massimo described the process of merging accounts, which is a tedious manual process, especially if the member has played several tourneys with both nicknames. If possible, this should be improved when the website is revised.

The trophies are running low again. Two years ago we had a “temporary re-order” of the trophies until we find a final solution, which was never talked about afterwards. There was a discussion about doing the trophies with resin or metal again, as the different regions seem to favor different materials. Various manufacturers were discussed. Torsten brought up the idea of doing some sort of public tendering. Massimo will put together a list of ideas and potential manufacturers, and will send the list around to be discussed during the next meeting.

Massimo asked to have the request for the 24-patches to be limited to requests via NAF Forum and contact@thenaf.net.

Massimo reported that he will do an express shipment to South Africa for a tourney next week.

4 Tournament Director
Phil reported news about some changes in the NC/RC personal. Greece will have OptimusPrime as new NC. Frikipe will step down after a long stint as Spanish NC and Hachablanca will take over. Bletos will now cover Madrid and DarkDuke will take over in Valencia.

Bulgaria has its first ever tournament now. Phil reported 56 approved tourneys in March and “only” 23 in April.

Phil gave also a quick update on the new Glicko Ranking and that new features were added. TheTacklezone website will add more info and other background stuff as soon as Dan is less busy.

In regards of the discussion about Score in the staff section of the NAF forum (started by Babs), Phil has collected a lot of information about existing systems worldwide and started to compare and evaluate them. He asked Mike (sann0638) to write/create a (better?) user manual for Score. He also contacted people about improving Score.

5 Treasurer

Paul reported that the NAF funds are low at the moment after paying the website cost and dice and makers for this year’s gift, but due to a steady income from membership sign-ups/renewals, he is not concerned at all. The Wales Eurobowl team will pay back their loan of 8000 GBP by September, while the World Cup team was given 10,000 EUR loan so far. The World Cup team requested an additional loan of 3000 EUR. Paul and Torsten will talk offline.

6 World Cup
Torsten reported that the display of the miniature team at the Dungeonbowl was well received by the coaches present. The sale of the tour shirt went well and will continue at most of the locations the team will travel to. Currently it’s on its way to Utah. The first serial pitch (0-series) will be ready next week and will be presented at the NAF Championship together with the second miniature team.

Torsten reported that the Messe Dornbirn informed him that the larger hall is not available any longer due to a shift of a larger fair following the event. He will have a meeting with the Messe on Monday. There was also an increase of cost of the technical equipment, which he will also discuss with the Messe. Worst case scenario will be that there will be limited spaces for coaches (about 1300-1400 people). Current cost calculations show a breakeven point with about 800 coaches. The final ticket price will be released in summer.

Torsten reported also that there will be a joint podcast from 3DieBlock and BothDown to build interest in the event.

7 Any Other Business
Nate brought up the Charity item collection at NAF events. After a brief discussion it was decided to have such collection events at the 4 larger NAF events (NAFC, Dungeonbowl, Chaos Cup and Eurobowl). People who donate goods will get a raffle ticket for a raffle drawn every year before the NAFC. This year’s raffle prize will be an official World Cup Pitch.

Nate was in contact with GW in order to get approval to host a team list with star players and inducements on the NAF site. There was a short discussion about including Weeping Dagger on the Skaven roster. When Weeping Dagger first came out, it was decided by the committee to not mention it on NAF documents as they are not really tournament relevant. Torsten asked to reverse this decision due to the nature of a full team list rather than a document explaining differences to CRP.  The decision was to include Weeping Dagger on the NAF documents. Any items/players, which were not part of CRP, but only in newer GW documents will get mentioned, but not described and a reference to DZ2 will be put in the list, e.g. stats of the orc lineman of the Chaos Renegades team.
