NAF Committee Meeting November 26th 2013

Non-elected Committee Members:
• Valdric is keen to stay on as Membership Director in new Presidential term.
• Dave expressed a willingness to aid the new Vice President / President with their roles in the transition phase. Dave is also keen on staying active with NAF after his VP tenure is complete e.g. as part of one of the sub committees.

Elections:
• The Treasurer and Tournament Director elections are coming soon after the Presidential election in 2014. The schedules for these elections are as follows:
• Treasurer:
o 27th Jan nominations open
o 9th Feb nominations end, Q&A begins
o 23rd Feb election begins
o 9th March election ends
• Tournament Director:
o 24th March nominations open
o 7th April nominations end, Q&A begins
o 21st April election begins
o 4th May election ends

NAF World Cup III:
• As of November 26th we are awaiting seven votes only. Lycos will aim to announce the winning bid in a mail shot to the whole membership in the next few days. The mail shot will also include a reminder about the Presidential election voting.
• Once the NAFWC voting process is concluded, we will publicise a full list of the voters plus the number of votes the winning bid received.

Rewards Committee Update:
• Preliminary brainstorming around various very interesting ideas has taken place. This will soon give way to the implementation phase. The new President will need to be involved here.
• Lycos will approach GW regarding reproduction of coloured block dice for 2014. In 2013 Games Workshop did not allow us the permissions we had previously enjoyed. We will enquire again in case their policy has changed in this regard.

Variants Update:
• Past and future tournaments can now be marked as one of several variants. Currently:
o Blood Bowl (the regular board game as know it, as per CRP/LRB)
o Beachbowl
o Deathbowl
o Dungeonbowl
o Sevens
o Streetbowl
o Novel Variant ( i.e. a significant variation on regular Blood Bowl that does not fit into any of the recognised categories)
• The ranking database will need to be restructured completely before separate sections are created to reflect the different variants. Pippy is working closely with technical staff on this subject. Thank you to Mepmuff for his efforts so far.
• We will provide full rules resources for all of these variants, developing the information currently on the Word Press site.

Additional K-Value:
• We have agreed to raise the K-value cap of five large international flagship team events, with immediate effect. This will give them equivalent ranking weighting to the Majors. The five events are:
o NAF World Cup
o Eurobowl
o EurOpen
o AusBowl
o North American Team Championship
• These events have become important fixtures on the global tournament scene and we believe it is fitting to support them in this way.
Website:
• Work remains in progress on this large ongoing task e.g. clearing up member data, staff admin functions etc.
• After a query raised by Geggster, Lycos will investigate the possibility of splitting member nationality (e.g. via Coach Page / tournament summary) into smaller subcategories e.g. US/Australian states, regions of larger countries etc.

If you wish to discuss any of the above issues further, please get in touch and we will respond as soon as possible, for example on the forum thread.

  1. Good update.

Just a little niggle – in future, could a link to the forum thread be added to these type of entries? I know it’s on the forum (read it earlier), but now I can’t find it (and “committee” takes a long time for the search engine). 😉 It’s only minor, but as a certain supermarket says, “Every little helps”. 😉
