NAF Committee Summary

NAF Committee Meeting Summary Autumn 2013

The below is a summary of matters discussed during NAF Committee Meetings in September and October 2013.

NAF Elections:

The dates and details of the Presidential Election were agreed as follows:

  • Nov 10th nominations open
  • Nov 24th nominations end, Q&A begins
  • Dec 15th Q&A ends, election begins
  • Jan 5th election ends
  • Dates of other elections in 2013 will follow soon e.g. Treasurer, Tournament Director.

NAF World Cup III:

Information from the five bids has been collated into a large PDF document with the aid of designer ManticoreRich. The bids are:

  • Bruges (Belgium)
  • Copenhagen (Denmark)
  • Lucca (Italy)
  • Sydney (Australia)
  • Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain)

The document will be made available to the 30-person internationally representative set of voters. The deadline date for voting is November 22nd, after which point we will know which city will host the 2015 NAF World Cup! Once the voting period is concluded, the PDF document will be published on the NAF site for the wider membership’s information.

There were discussions around different voting formats; however the committee agreed on a ‘winner takes all’ single round of voting with the President having the casting vote in the event of a tie (as already announced).

NAF Rewards Sub Committee:

A group of NAF officials and NAF members has been created with the brief of developing membership gifts, merchandise and tournament giveaways. The sub committee comprises Geggster (Treasurer), Valdric (Membership Director), Xtreme and Virral and will be hoping to build on the already successful NAF dice and NAF trophies, plus some new ideas under discussion.

Further to the above, the NAF has used a small amount of its funds to buy some ‘Aussie’ blocking dice. These are in the process of being distributed to NTOs worldwide in 20 different countries and are to be used as prize support for tournaments.

Website:

We are tidying up aspects of the site in readiness for transfer to a new location. Vmcat, Elyoukey and others have been recruited to assist the existing technical staff.

Variant rankings:

We will retrospectively separate all variant matches and variant tournaments from the regular NAF ranking database, a long overdue job. Where possible we will group variants into identifiable variant types e.g. Dungeonbowl, Streetbowl, Deathbowl etc. The intention is to ‘tidy up’ the rankings for the core Blood Bowl game, and allow an official outlet for past and future variant tournaments and matches. This may also feed into a review of the Tournament Approval Guidelines.

Pippy (Tournament Director) will work with the technical staff to implement this by a guideline deadline of end January 2014.

Members should expect further Newsletter updates from our meetings in the months to come.
