Tournaments

One of the main interactions that most users will have with the NAF is attending a NAF sanctioned tournament. You can find a list of all past, present and future NAF sanctioned tournaments in the NAF database.

Attending a tournament for the first time might be daunting, even if you are an experienced league or online player. We have a guide for what you can expect when attending a tournament.

If you’re thinking about running a tournament and are wondering what is involved, or you want to learn from the experiences of others, we have a lot of resources available, including guides written by various Tournament Organisers (TOs).

More experienced TOs may be interested in the regularly updated NAF tournament document section where you can find the current guidelines for running NAF tournaments along with the NAF Sanctioning document.

Every four years there is the NAF World Cup. The latest was in September 2023 in Alicante, Spain and attended by over 2,200 coaches! The next will be run in 2027 although the bidding process for hosting rights has not yet begun.

There are also several events known as Majors run annually in the UK, USA, Canada, Germany and Australia. As these events, along with the World Cup, offer double ranking points.

The NAF recently introduced Nationals. Any country with a qualifying event and enough active NAF members is eligible to apply to host a National Event. More information about Majors and Nationals can be found here.

As well as tabletop events, there are online NAF events which have been run on FUMBBL or Cyanide’s Blood Bowl 3. Further information can be found here.

Any registered coach who has attended one or more NAF events will have gained a ranking for any race which they have played in a sanctioned tournament. You will be given an ELO ranking as well as a Glicko rating. For anyone interested in the detail of how these are calculated, you can find that information here. To view your ELO rankings you will need to log in to the Members Area and view your coach page.

There are other places to find out about and discuss tournaments. The most popular are the Talk Fantasy Football forums and the NAF Server on Discord.
