NAF Committee Meeting 26th April 2020

Present: Nate, Paul, James, Anthony, Phil, Massimo

Meeting Started at 23:16 CET

  1. Welcome (All)
  • The Committee congratulates Paul on his re-election as Treasurer.

  1. NAF Gifts (MD)
  • Massimo reports that the dice and tokens have arrived and look fantastic.
  • Will send some pictures so they can be posted on the website and on social media.
  • Available as new gifts from Friday 1st

  1. Membership Engagement (TD, LD)
  • Anthony reports that 6 NTO’s joined the Hangout and engaged with members of the committee.
  • Early days but those present spoke highly of Online NAF tournaments.
  • Phil stated that Majority of NAF documents have now been translated. French, Spanish and majority of Italian. Some Portuguese as well.
  • Still recruiting translators. Discussion about providing translations on all Facebook Communications.
  • Leipziger to be engaged to find us these people.
  • Discussion of National Tournaments with NTOs to continue. Phil to follow up.

  1. NAF LIVE (TD)
  • Phil advised that we have had excellent numbers for the NAF Live tournaments. 154 played in Dungeon Bowl, and 222 in Eucalyptus Bowl.
  • Next Tournament to be NAFC on the 2nd/3rd Phil will be assisting but the main admin of the NAF Live tournaments will be Dan Gow (Foad). Phil discussed bestowing an official title on Dan.
  • Discussion centred on whether the NAF Live concept would continue once restrictions lifted. Phil mentioned that it was quite arduous to admin but that he would be prepared to assist until numbers dropped off.
  • NAF Live to continue with a tournament roughly every 2 weeks with consideration given to one day tournaments as well.
  • Normal online NAF tournaments would continue, including the Tilean Team Cup.
  • Plans still in place to run NAF Live over BB2, PC only at this stage.

  1. COVID-19 (All)
  • It was mentioned that members in countries such as Belgium and Spain expected restrictions to ease to the point that Table Top Blood Bowl could return.
  • Committee agreed to not extend the previous determination that tournaments not be accepted before the end of April. It was agreed that we could not determine what was safe and what wasn’t in individual countries. Rely on NTOs advice.
  • It was accepted that many tournaments may be hastily arranged and that it was best practice to relax current proximity rules for the remainder of 2020. Tournament approval staff would simply advise conflicting TOs of a potential clash and trust them to make sensible decisions.

  1. Games Workshop Matters (All)
  • The question has been flagged online that there has been a change to the wording of the Mighty Blow skill. At this stage the committee has determined that the skill should be played as it has always been played however, we are awaiting an official response from GW.
  • New Race Added – Snotlings
  • Committee agrees that as soon as the rules are released for Snotlings that they will be added to the tournament database as a playable ranked team.
  • They will however be optional for inclusion in tournaments up until the Annual Review, whereby the committee will determine whether they will become mandatory.

  1. Treasurers Report (TR)
  • Paul thanked Megamind and Zulu for running good campaigns and encouraging debate amongst the membership.
  • Key topic of conversation from election was the question of membership fees. It was noted that we have never had an increase to fees during the NAFs lifetime. We’ve not had an increase in membership costs but as our costs have broadly aligned with our receipts, increased membership costs have not been needed.
  • Postal costs and online payment fees mean a cost differential between online renewal and face to face renewal is in place. In light of recent events, increased postal engagement seems likely (in 2019, we had roughly the same online renewals as face to face) but as long as online fees paid, postage is catered for in the membership fee, no need for a wider membership fee change. To be kept under revision.
  • Paul states he sees no need for us provide more regular accounts. We rarely have any questions about them but happy to answer those we do.
  • Canadian Amorical Cup loan has been extended. As agreed by Committee.
  • NAF Championship has been postponed for 2020, hall contract etc rolled over for following year. May run at a loss next year, but profits/deficits for NAFC have traditionally balanced themselves out from year to year.
  • Malta Euro have tentatively asked on the possibility of a loan to assist with the deposit for their venue. This is deferred as Euro Poland is likely to be postponed to 2021, which will push Malta to 2022 (since the meeting, Poland has indeed been deferred to October 2021)

  1. Membership Director Report (MD)
  • Massimo is handling gifts for all of Europe at the moment.
  • Has 150 envelopes ready to go as soon restrictions are lifted and he can get to post office.
  • Has been following up on gifts requests posted on facebook
  • Many issues with French Post and returns.
  • NTOs forget to take dice to tournaments, requiring postage after the fact.
  • New coaches not logging in and updating the automated Griff Oberwald usernames and Reikland address.
  • No Membership Shipping file produced for April. May to be reviewed based on lifting of restrictions and membership numbers.

  1. League Director Report (LD)
  • Anthony reports that no one is playing leagues, except online.
  • OBBLM use is down
  • Taking the opportunity to clean up some functionality

  1. Data Protection (TD)
