Scoring Software

A choice needs to be made between the new software that a 3rd party has been developing and a new version of Score combined with a spreadsheet solution.

  • Score/Excel has been developed by Sann and HairyPete, who if it is chosen will work together to make it as error-free as possible, while recognising that there are possibilities for errors.

  • Using Score would mean that the App that has been developed for the WC could not be used. This App was designed to allow individuals to upload the score of their games. This should be possible in the future, even if it is not ready for the WC.

  • Beppe will call Fabio tomorrow (the owner of the company producing the software). He will ask for daily updates of the software, and a final decision will be made on Friday.

  • Committee members (if time available) should test the new software and put their names next to any bugs.

  • For the WC, Sann to be Head Ref, to co-ordinate with Andrea and the organisers and the referee team. Other refs are Panico, Aramil, OldManMonkey, then there will be other data entry people available.

  • The results sheet should match the score entry exactly, so those entering the data can just read the numbers out. This is the best way of entering the data accurately.

World Cup General

Everything is proceeding well with the organisation.

  • Andrea had a question about timing. After an hour the refs should check and use chess clocks. Communicate the best app to download.

  • This can go on an FAQ on the website (either NAF or Luccini.it)

  • All announcements are in English at the event.

  • Tiebreaker question: what after Net TD then Net Cas? A: Strength of Schedule (also known as Opponent Score in Score)

  • There will be a NAF Committee, Refs and Lucca organisation meeting on the Thursday night of the World Cup (confirmed as 2130).

  • Official number: 912 coaches playing.

  • Cyanide. Following on from the ongoing dialogue between Sann and the Community Managers of Cyanide, there will be a direct approach from Beppe to the CEO of Cyanide, or the appropriate member of his team. Sann to write a draft letter for this.

  • At the last two World Cups, the NAF sponsored a coin, but have not done so this time round. There is already a coin for this one (if attendees chose to get it), which continues the coin tradition.

BB2

See above re: letter to Cyanide. Hopefully a dialogue will ensue, and we would like to work together in general. The outcomes we want are protection of the NAF name and/or collaboration with Cyanide.

We need to take into account the size of our organisation against the owners of the Cyanide game.

Survey

Releasing the raw data would be good to encourage the community to generate conclusions.

Data will be mined after the event but interesting statistics are already appearing.

We will push the survey out as much as possible in the next couple of weeks.

Use of Funds

Aside from the money for the website, the survey should produce some ideas.

Various ideas were discussed and the committee would welcome any more.

Income is currently around 10% above expenditure.

Finalising Election Timetable

Beppe will decide the timings for the three upcoming elections (Pres, Treas, TD).

For this next TD election, the winning candidate will be in place from May 2016 to January 2019 (so longer than the standard 2 year period). This is so that the TD position can have future elections in tandem with the LD role each odd year (and the President and Treasurer will be elected in the even years). The will mean only two elections in each winter – which should assist committee continuity and also may lead to greater community engagement in elections. In theory, the election should be at two years for each elected position, but we hope the community agree that staggering the elections (and running them with a little more haste) will only aid the process of electing the best officials for the roles.

Update on timings:

President

13 Dec – nominations start

20 Dec – nominations end and Q&A start

27 Dec – voting start

3 Jan – election ends and the new President is elected

We could give one more week to the Q&A process, due to the fact there are Christmas holidays

Treasurer

21 Feb – nominations start

28 Feb – nominations end and Q&A start

06 Mar – voting start

13 Mar – election ends and the new Treasurer is elected

Tournament Director (3 years just for the following mandate)

24 Apr – nominations start

01 May – nominations end and Q&A start

08 May – voting start

15 May – election ends and the new Tournament Director is elected

Optional Community Teams in NAF OBBLM

Some optional community teams are an option in NAF-hosted OBBLM, and users have asked for them to be turned on. Shteve0 will look into a tickbox for new leagues that will allow or disallow the Cyanide Khorne and Bretonnians and the Fumbbl Apes teams for individual leagues, and in the meantime produce files that match these. The committee determined that, despite its obvious merits, the Ice Cubes roster will not be included at this time. It was felt that to do so would send us on a slippery slope.

AOB

For information, committee meetings used to take an hour, but more recently have been taking two.

Next Meeting

Timings will need to change for the next Skype meeting.

5th November at the World Cup, then 22nd November. Time to be confirmed to allow for upcoming clock changes. US, NZ and European members make timings difficult!
