Committee Spring 2015

Here are the minutes for the Committee Meetings from Spring 2015:

NAF Committee meeting, 8th of March 2015

President:

– World Cup organization
A huge number of teams (142 teams and 12 single players at the moment) have registered.

We must be prepared for World Cup with enough gifts for renewals. Not for 900 coaches but for maybe 450.

It would be nice to have the 2016 gift ready as well for distribution to RTOs at WC. This will save a lot of money on postage.

– New site and software (for tournaments)
Beppe received the quote for the software and site. To get the official offer he needs our official name and numbers. Lycos will send it to him. (We’re registered in the USA.)

– League Director
All agree we need a new League Director (appointed or elected) before the new site goes live. Beppe favors an election.   We will also investigate an amendment to make League Director an official position.

General Discussion:
Paul mentions that we should get our communication straight a bit more quickly, in regard to preparing minutes and replying to group emails.

Treasurer:
– Rewards committee
Last year we ordered our gift around now and got them on time. Paul contacted Richard and did get in touch but communications were low after that, also due to busy times at Paul’s. Paul had all the contacts with the different companies after they both looked around for those companies. Nate expresses concerns for the arrival of the Tournament Series rewards. Paul asks Nate if he wants to run point considering rewards for the moment. Nate replies he can and will do it.

Options for this year are discussed. We throw around ideas and tentatively agree on one of them.

Lycos: some of the previous’ run of white dice have bad prints. We must keep an eye on that.

Tournament Director:

– FUMBBL tournament
Phil sent us an email about it and the tournament was a tremendous success. We consider the tournament a good move. To get the new ‘online’ ranking entered in the site will take too much time, and thus money, so we decide to keep the data and enter it in the new site.

– Alternative Races
Nate has been asked if there is a limit on the number of “alternative” races that can be used in a tournament. Some surprise was expressed that such teams are allowed in sanctioned tournaments at all. Nate states that they are, and that such inclusion predates his tenure. Beppe clarifies that these are usually small tournaments.

The question is: do we need a rule from the NAF Staff / TD on sanctioning tournaments that allow alternative races. Nate will send out an email to us all with some data on the amount of those tournaments.

– Alternative league tracker
Nate found an alternative for our current league tracker. We will look deeper into this in the upcoming week

Events Manager:
Nothing that has not already arisen

Next meeting:
19th of April, 21:00 CET

NAF Committee meeting, January 18th

President:
– World Cup organization
All is looking well: website is ready.

Rules question: can a stacked skill be given to someone who has had a double skill already? Clarification: this is allowed for Tiers 2 and 3 only.

Website is being tested, registration is included in the hotel-deal.

Prizes and gifts are being made and they look awesome according to Beppe. Beppe gets updates regularly (every two weeks)

– New software for tournaments
Our developer has a NAF number now, most important feature would be the multi-person entering of results. Beppe will call him soon to get things up to speed. He will also send him the latest version of Score to show what we want the program to be capable of.

-General Discussion
Priority of NAF Membership gift for 2015 but also new trophies.
The rewards team needs to get into action as soon as possible! Paul will provide update. Designs are ready and there’s been contact with the producing party. Size and weight must be a factor that’s considered because of postage.

Treasurer:
– Accounts
Accounts for 2014 have been created. Income only 10% more than outgoings – that’s perfectly fine. In fact, a good figure to aim for according to Paul. We pass the accounts.

Response to the latest NAF shield was good, very good. Postage is high, though. Also membership went down, notably, for the first time in a decade

Membership Director:

Tournament Director:
– World Cup judges/translations
We need translators with language skills. Panico wants to be judge again.Translations of the ruleset are being made, some (German, French are finished, Spain is on the way)

– FUMBBL tournament
Christer is working on the last software issues. There’s a lot of interest and it works!

Events Manager:
– Website
As discussed in ‘new software for tournaments’.

Next meeting:
8th of March
